37th GREEK FESTIVAL OF SYDNEY

Greek Fest takes over Sydney's Darling Harbour Precinct on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March. With free music, entertainment, Greek food and drinks, market stalls, dance performances and more, this much-loved festival is an event for all ages. This year, audiences are in for a treat on Sunday evening with a free performance by one of Greece's most popular singing sensations, Eleonora Zouganeli, on her first visit to Australia.

Zouganeli is considered to be musical royalty in Greece; her father is the popular entertainer Yannis Zouganelis – a songwriter, composer, actor and comedian – and her mother is acclaimed singer Isidora Sideri, who has worked with some of the most revered Greek composers.

However, Eleonora quickly managed to make a name for herself, with her vocal timber and her versatile singing style, combining the traditions of Greek folk, entechno music and rock.

Foodies rejoice! Bring your appetite to the Festival – Tumbalong Park will be packed with food vendors all weekend, dishing up classic and modern twists on Greek snacks and sweets. Vendors include 1821 Restaurant who will be slinging souvlakia all weekend and Irene's Loukoumades, undeniably the best Greek honey donuts you can get your hands on in Sydney. With hot weather predicted, make a stop past the Retro Classic Treats ice cream van for a baklava or kataifi cone.

There'll be Greek dance performances across two stages by Sydney's best Greek and Cypriot dancing schools and loads of live music entertainments from local bands, Melbourne-based Cats and the Canary and two performances direct from Greece; Ilias Horeftakis (Crete) and Ipirotiko Band (Epirus).

Indubitably one of the most prominent multicultural events in Sydney, and a must do in the events calendar, Greek Fest Darling Harbour will give Sydneysiders a taste of Greece as the foreshore of Darling Harbour comes alive. This year's program is new and exciting, sure to showcase the richest display of Greek culture in Australia.
