The Australian Government has paid over $395 million to Australians impacted by extreme weather events in recent months.
Minister for Government Services Linda Reynolds said Western Australia's Mid West region was hit hard.
"Over $5.7 million for more than 4,700 claims has been paid to help West Australians whose lives have been impacted by Tropical Cyclone Seroja," Minister Reynolds said.
Minister Reynolds highlighted Services Australia's response to natural disasters across the country between February and April this year.
"More than 327,000 claims for disaster assistance have been granted to Australians affected by Tropical Cyclone Seroja and bushfires in WA as well as severe storms and flooding across eastern Australia," Minister Reynolds said.
"Services Australia staff have answered more than 521,500 calls nationally on their Disaster Assistance phone line since financial assistance was declared in February.
"Following the NSW floods, the agency granted over 321,000 claims totalling more than $385 million."
Services Australia's Mobile Service Centres and Mobile Service Teams provided on the ground support in the hardest hit communities.
"Everyone should have access to essential services, especially in the aftermath of a disaster," Minister Reynolds said.
"These teams help people access Government payments, and connect them with social workers who can provide counselling at what can be an extremely difficult time."
Eligible Australians impacted by disasters can access the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment and Disaster Recovery Allowance by calling 180 22 66.
