$3M in Drugs Seized in Gladstone Trafficking Bust

Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with the support of State Drug Squad have charged 25 people with 235 offences and seized more than $3 million worth of dangerous drugs as part of Operation Promontory.

The nine-month joint operation closed on 19 February and was aimed at dismantling a long-standing drug supply syndicate operating in the Gladstone region.

Crime scenes were established at two residential properties at Toolooa and Glen Eden, and an extensive search of bushland was conducted, which led to the alleged seizure of over 7.5 kilograms of methylamphetamine, 300g of cocaine, 360 pounds of cannabis, and other illicit substances.

It will be further alleged officers located and seized over $1 million in cash and seized multiple vehicles and other assets used in the commission of crime.

25 people have been charged with 235 offences, including 11 people charged with trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and cannabis).

Office in charge of Gladstone CIB, Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Richard, said the operation has yielded significant results in dangerous drug operations.

"We are confident that Operation Promontory has successfully dismantled a deeply entrenched drug syndicate, significantly disrupting the supply of illicit drugs in the Gladstone region," said Detective Senior Sergeant Richard.

"There is no place for illicit drugs within our community, and investigators will continue to hold offenders to account."
