$500,000 hydroponic house arrest near Wollongong, NSW

Two men have been charged after a hydroponic house was located near Wollongong yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police will allege the property on The Avenue, Mount Saint Thomas, had been converted into a hydroponic house.

About 1pm yesterday, police searched the property and seized cash and 246 cannabis plants, which have an estimated potential street value of $496,000.

A 31-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

The men were charged with large commercial cultivation of a prohibited plant by indoor enhanced means and unauthorised use of electricity.

Both were refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court today.
