The Crisafulli Government is backing regional Queensland by unlocking more than 5,300 homes in Gympie under the landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund.
The Crisafulli Government has today announced funding under the Residential Activation Fund will deliver a $36.6 million boost towards the $40.7 million Gympie Water Resilience and Augmentation Project (GWRAP) – Phase 1.
The GWRAP consists of essential trunk infrastructure works that lay the platform for water security in the region, a critical enabler for residential development and economic prosperity.
The Residential Activation Fund will also deliver a $5.4 million boost towards the $6.9 million Infrastructure Staging for Urban Investigation area to maximises the Bruce Highway Upgrade Investment and unlock residential and economic growth across the Gympie region.
The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund has received 178 submissions, 64 from South East Queensland and 114 from regional, rural and remote Queensland.
The Crisafulli Government's first Budget is delivering up to $1 billion under its opening round for the Residential Activation Fund, doubled from the original $500 million, in response to the overwhelming support and availability of shovel-ready projects.
Round one funding focuses on the construction of critical truck infrastructure needed such as water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and roads needed to unlock new residential developments and ease Labor's Housing Crisis.
The $2 billion Residential Activation Fund is a key pillar of the Crisafulli Government's Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan and is breaking down the barriers for infill and greenfield developments.
The Fund will deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders and support one million new homes by 2044, with at least 50 per cent of the overall funding to be invested in regional, rural and remote Queensland.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie, said the Residential Activation Fund was set to unlock thousands of new homes across Queensland.
"The Crisafulli Government is delivering on our election commitment to give more Queenslanders a place to call home by funding shovel-ready projects like the Gympie Water Resilience and Augmentation Project (GWRAP), critical trunk infrastructure which will unlock thousands of homes in the region," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"This project and partnership with Gympie Regional Council will transform the housing landscape in the region, giving more Queenslanders a place to call home.
"The Residential Activation Fund is just one way the Crisafulli Government is creating jobs, unlocking housing and ensuring that Queensland continues to grow ahead of 2032 and beyond."
Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig said the Crisafulli Government's Residential Activation Fund would help unlock much-needed housing in the region.
"We're delighted to have secured funding under the Queensland Government's Residential Activation Fund," Mayor Hartwig said.
"This investment of $42 million will allow us to deliver critical trunk infrastructure, unlocking 5,350 new homes in Gympie.
"This support is vital to addressing housing challenges in our community while supporting local jobs and economic development."
Minister for Member for Gympie Tony Perrett said the Crisafulli Government's landmark Residential Activation Fund would unlock new housing opportunities and deliver lasting benefits for the Gympie region.
"This investment is a gamechanger for our region to unlock thousands of new homes, supporting local jobs, and driving long-term economic growth," Mr Perrett said.
"Delivering critical trunk infrastructure like this means we're not just planning for the future - we're building it. It's exactly the kind of targeted support our region needs.
"This is another clear example of the Crisafulli Government delivering on its election commitments, investing $500 million from the first round of the Residential Activation Fund to help more Queenslanders find a place to call home in the regions."
