The gantry will enable vehicles and freight to be loaded on and off the ship, and it is a critical piece of infrastructure for the project.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said it was fantastic to see the progress being made on site by TT-Line, BMD and local contractors.
"The gantry is an impressive piece of engineering," the Premier said.
"This 700-tonne structure will be the gateway to freight, passengers, visitors and livestock in and out of our state.
"Two western leg sections of the gantry have been installed, with the eastern legs the next stage.
"The gantry is expected to be completed by the middle of this year, with the project on track to be delivered in October.
"Once the gantry is completed, TT-Line will test both of the new Spirits on the gantry before completion of the entire project.
"Tasmania is entering a new era of opportunity, and we are getting on with the job of building Tasmania.
"I want to thank TT-Line's leadership team and all those who have helped deliver this project.
"I look forward to seeing our new Spirits sailing down the Mersey this year."
