WA Bike Month is gearing up, with more than $80,000 in grants awarded to support 72 events for people of all ages and abilities to give bike riding a go.
The month-long celebration in October promises to be bigger than ever, with grant funded activities to include bike tours, trail rides, scavenger hunts, and bike safety, maintenance and skill building sessions.
Two major event grants have been awarded, including for an all-abilities bike festival, offering an inclusive experience for people with disability to learn and experience how to ride safely on our road and path networks. Forty-six schools are also receiving funding, representing over half of the grant recipients.
Since 2017, the State Government has invested or allocated more than $750 million towards expanding the active transport network - the largest ever investment made by a Western Australian State Government. Hundreds of kilometres of paths and other active transport infrastructure have been, and continue to be, delivered through this record level of investment.
WA Bike Month offers the perfect opportunity for people from all corners of the State to explore the network and discover the joy and benefits of bike riding.

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"WA Bike Month is our flagship celebration of bike riding and welcomes everyone, no matter age or ability, to hop on a bike, get involved and connect with their community.
"Interest and participation in WA Bike Month grows every year, and it's great to see the dedication of schools, local governments, community organisations and workplaces to host activities.
"This government is investing more money than ever before in active transport infrastructure, and WA Bike Month is a great occasion to experience our world-class paths and facilities, especially new additions like the incredible Boorloo Bridge.
"We want to make bike riding a safe, convenient and widely accepted mode of transport, and Bike Month is a great opportunity to make bike riding part of your routine."
