Applications are now open for proposals to reduce the impact of marine debris on the Reef.
$8 million in funding is available. This is funded through Round 2 of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Debris Management and Mitigation Program.
Marine debris can:
- harm wildlife
- damage habitats
- affect communities that rely on the Reef.
The grant will fund practical action to reduce these impacts.
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Debris Management and Mitigation Program is part of the government's ongoing investment to protect the Great Barrier Reef. Phase 2 builds on work underway through round 1of the program.
This is funded through the Reef Trust. The Reef Trust is the government's investment program for the Reef.
