$9M Cocaine Seized, Man Charged in Mid North Coast Stop

A man will face court today after police seized 30kg of cocaine following a vehicle stop near Forster yesterday.

About 10.30am (Thursday 29 May 2026), Manning-Great Lakes Highway Patrol stopped a Pantech truck on the Pacific Highway at Failford, about 5km north of Nabiac.

Following inquiries, police established that the driver's licence had allegedly been suspended.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized approximately 30kg cocaine, electronics, and $1,302 cash.

The cocaine has an estimated potential street value of $9 million.

The driver – a 28-year-old man – was arrested and taken to Forster Police Station.

He was charged with four offences:

  • Take part supply prohibited drug (greater than or equal to large commercial quantity)
  • Recklessly deal with proceeds of crime (less than or equal to $5,000)
  • Possess prohibited drug, and
  • Drive when driver visiting privileges withdrawn.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Friday 29 May 2026).
