Visitors to popular Top End Parks and Reserves can breathe easy, with the roll out of more smoke-free zones from 1 January 2021.
The Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security will continue to support a family-friendly environment by excluding smoking around selected waterholes at Litchfield National Park.
This follows the introduction of smoke-free zones at Berry Springs Nature Park and Howard Springs Nature Park in November, which have been welcomed by visitors.
Signs and maps will inform visitors of the smoke-free zones, with Rangers conducting regular patrols to remind people of the new rules.
Smoking is still permitted outside of the smoke-free zones.
