Tomorrow's Federal Election is our best chance to reset Australia's approach to tackling climate change.
Minister for Environment and the Great Barrier Reef Leeanne Enoch said it was clear that Australia needs real, urgent action on climate change.
"We have all waited too long while the Federal LNP Government has ignored the established science on climate change," Ms Enoch said.
"There are still some in the LNP who don't even accept what the science is telling us, and we're now at the point where doing nothing is not an option.
"Tomorrow, Queenslanders will have a choice. We know everyone cares about the environment and we know only a Labor Federal Government will take the steps that are required to lead a national approach to protect our environment and the Great Barrier Reef."
Minister Enoch said the Palaszczuk Government was doing its part to tackle climate change, and was driving the conversation forward.
"We are working towards delivering zero net emissions by 2050 and reaching a 50 percent renewable energy target by 2030," Ms Enoch said.
"Next month Queensland will host sub-national governments from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region as part of Queensland's inaugural Climate Week QLD.
"We will also host a First Nations Climate Summit to learn from Traditional Owners and ensure their perspectives on climate action are heard and brought into decision making."
Climate Week QLD will also include three days of climate change leadership training for more than 800 people, delivered by former US Vice President Al Gore and leaders from The Climate Reality Project.
