A New Environmental Community Hub for the City Of Cockburn

Residents of the City of Cockburn are eagerly awaiting the redevelopment of the Wetlands Precinct located on Bibra Lake Reserve. Due for practical completion mid-2021, the project promises to deliver an educational community hub with a large focus on sustainability.

Newly appointed Quantity Surveyors, Rawlinsons (W.A.), are delighted to offer Cost Management Services to this environmental community project.

“As Construction Cost Consultants, our role will be to provide the City of Cockburn with accurate and timely cost advice throughout both the planning and construction phases of the project”, explains Director Mr Niall Mc Aree.

Working to an estimated $5.8 million budget, this integrated redevelopment includes the renovation and extension of the Wetlands Education Building, the demolition and rebuild of the Native Arc Building, reconstruction of the existing Scout Shed and a new state of the art Native Plant Nursery and Artificial Wetland, along with new car parks and landscaping.

“As there is a strong focus on sustainability it will be essential that we promote energy and water efficiencies, waste minimisation and the use of ecologically sustainable materials and construction practices over the duration of the project”, says Mr McAree. “This will ensure the City of Cockburn achieves their fundamental objective of receiving maximum value for money within the ecologically sustainable design.”

The Wetlands Precinct Redevelopment offers the City of Cockburn community a mixed use environmental education facility that not only will meet the current needs but also the future demands of a growing City.
