A universe of fun at Galactic Fest Family Fun Day

If the force runs strong in your family, then grab your starship and head along to Toowoomba City Library on Saturday, 18 January as it is taken over by an empire of fans at this year's Galactic Fest Family Fun Day.

Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Committee Chair Cr Geoff McDonald said the universe is an oyster for fans of all things Sci-Fi and Star Wars.

"The force will be with you as you join in a galaxy of themed activities including Jedi Challenge VR station, free face painting and craft, scavenger hunt and trivia and Galactic Markets, hosted by The Eclectic Emporium.

"Galactic Fest is a unique feature of the Toowoomba City Library's holiday program, Cr McDonald said.

"Only at Galactic Fest will you can take a lightsabre class with the Sons of Obiwan Academy, share a selfie backdropped by the double sun-set of Tatooine, enter a Star Wars Escape Room or enjoy tabletop gaming and Star Wars Chess.

"Interstellar travellers will enjoy a special appearance by the 501st Legion, and for some well-earned cosmic retail therapy, Eclectic Emporium will host the Galactic Markets.

"Techwright will showcase a Baby Yoda that has been built by a 3D printer, and there will even be some interactive robotics and a STEM station presented by IntegratedSTEM.

"There is something for all the family in this action-packed blockbuster day.

According to Cr McDonald, not even a Death Star would keep him away.

"So, if you're local or from a galaxy far far away, head down to Galactic Fest at the Toowoomba City Library.

Cr McDonald said, "If you have never been to a Sci-Fi event at the library, then take the advice of Captain James T Kirk and boldly go where no man has gone before."

Toowoomba Regional Library will host the Galactic Fest family fun day from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm on Saturday 18 January.
