Absconder in Alice Springs 3 December

Northern Territory Police are searching for a man who has absconded from the Alice Springs Quarantine Facility.

Staff at the facility confirmed the man was not in his room at 1pm, and appeared to have left via the balcony.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for 27-year-old Jeremy MacDonald. MacDonald entered the NT by road at Kulgera on 26 November and was directed to enter quarantine after failing to declare he had been in a hotspot.

Police reassure the community that MacDonald tested negative for COVID-19 on 1 December.

Commander Sachin Sharma said, “We urge the community to report any sightings of Jeremy MacDonald, and encourage him to hand himself in to local police. The CHO directions are in place for community safety and breaking those directions is a serious offence. “

Anyone with information is asked to call 131 444.
