Acting CEO appointed - Campaspe Shire Council

Campaspe Shire Council has appointed Mr Ray Burton as Acting Chief Executive Officer, to start Monday, 27 May.

Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the appointment of an Acting CEO was important, to ensure the organisation was supported whilst the CEO recruitment process was underway.

"Mr Burton has 40-plus years' experience in local government and has held key roles in a number of councils in regional Victoria and more recently Queensland," Cr Weston said.

"We are confident he will support the organisation, providing leadership and working with the Executive Management Group, to ensure continuity of operations and administration."

The position became vacant following the departure of Mr Jason Russell in mid-April.

"Council is in the process of appointing a recruitment consultant to assist with the critical task of recruiting a new CEO," Cr Weston said.

"It is recognised that this process may take up to six months and Mr Burton's appointment will ensure we continue to meet our organisational, community and strategic commitments.

In the interim, Ms Fleur Cousins, General Manager Corporate Services will continue in the Acting CEO role.
