Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Ms. Sasha Baker met with Israeli Ministry of Defense Director General Eyal Zamir at the Pentagon, March 25.
The leaders discussed strategic priorities at the core of the U.S.-Israel defense relationship in advance of Secretary Austin's upcoming meeting with Minister of Defense Gallant. Ms. Baker and DG Zamir discussed the situation in Gaza, to include our shared goal of defeating Hamas and the imperative to maximize the delivery and distribution of humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians across Gaza.
Ms. Baker reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to Israel's security and emphasized that it is critical that Israel do everything possible to prevent civilian casualties. She also underscored that any operations should be conducted as surgically and precisely as possible to protect civilians.
