Australian mining is a major and growing contributor to jobs, investment and communities and has kept Australia's economy and the communities in which it operates strong during the COVID-19 pandemic. This major economic, social and environmental contribution is both a defining challenge and an opportunity.

Australian mining provides the essential elements of modern life: building better communities, driving innovation, improvements in environmental management and new technologies to deliver a low emissions future. The industry also takes its obligations to build trust seriously through open and respectful engagement, clear and considered planning and development, and a commitment to the highest standards of governance and transparency.

The industry's policy agenda - Advantage Australia - is a summary of the industry's approach and priorities to inform discussion with the community, government, parliamentarians, investor representatives and stakeholders.

The industry's key issues include health and safety, skills and training, regional development, indigenous partnerships, climate action, sustainable development, economics, trade and investment and future opportunities in the workforce, exploration and minerals processing.

Advantage Australia also includes a number of case studies from across the MCA's member companies to show how the industry is delivering for Australia, and updated statistics on the sector's contribution including across different commodities, states and territories.

The MCA is working with communities, stakeholders, investors and government to deliver this agenda and increase the opportunities and benefits for all resulting from a successful and sustainable Australian minerals sector.
