The American Forces Network, AFN, will be temporarily reducing broadcast services worldwide in the event of a federal government shutdown. AFN will continue broadcasting in support of U.S. servicemembers and military families overseas, however, with substantially reduced information and programming.
Should a U.S. government shutdown occur, staffing limits require a reduction in AFN's television service from eight channels to one channel, AFN News. The streaming service, AFN Now, will continue to simulcast AFN News programming.
AFN Radio services will reduce to one channel, AFN The Eagle. The radio streaming app, AFN Go, will similarly broadcast AFN The Eagle. AFN Eagle radio stations worldwide will continue providing service to their overseas military communities.
The AFN broadcast service, Direct-To-Sailor, will also reduce to a single television channel, AFN News, and one audio channel, AFN The Eagle.
