AgForce supports new advertising drive to help fight fire ants

AgForce has welcomed a new Queensland Government advertising push to help fight fire ants.

From 9 January to 25 February residents in a selection of suburbs in Logan, Brisbane and the Scenic Rim local government areas will see and hear a range of fire ant-related advertising, including direct mail, billboards, radio, and social media.

The goal is to reach as many people in the target suburbs as possible and get them to look for and report fire ants.

The fight against fire ants is a year-round job and we need to work together to check every property for signs of the pest.

One missed nest can multiply and spread, putting an entire community at risk and changing the outdoor way of life we know and love.

We must work together to tackle this invasive pest, if fire ants win it will cost the Australian economy $2 billion per year, forever.

Eradicating them will take a whole-of-community approach, and everyone plays a key role.

If you find a suspicious ant mound, report it to the National Fire Ant Eradication Program at fireants.org.au or by calling 13 25 23.
