Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews have contained a fire burning at Mount Whitsunday Drive and Hermitage Drive, Airlie Beach. Firefighters are patrolling the area and strengthening containment lines with the assistance of water bombing aircraft. Smoke is expected to impact the surrounding area for several days. Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution.
