An Airlie Beach couple weren't sure whether to laugh, cry or vomit after discovering their weekly Set for Life ticket had snapped up a division one win of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
The Whitsunday residents held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 3885, drawn 26 March 2026. They can look forward to $4.8 million paid in monthly instalments of $20,000 for the next 20 years.
This marks the third Set for Life division one win in Queensland this month, following a Morayfield single dad last Tuesday and a Bribie Island couple earlier this week.
When we called the winning duo with the incredible news, they admitted they had almost missed the life-changing call.
"Are you kidding me? Stop it! I'm going to cry!" the winning wife exclaimed.
"Oh my god! I can't believe it. I feel like vomiting.
"My husband's almost falling over. We're crying and laughing at the same time.
"Thank you! I almost didn't answer the phone. I was just getting ready to pick up my grandchildren.
"I have to ring my family! Oh my godfather. My husband's giving me a big hug. We'll be having champagne early today and he can say goodbye to work for good!"
With $20,000 about to land into their bank account on the 15th of every month for the next two decades, the kind-hearted pair shared the prize would go a long way helping their nearest and dearest.
"This is incredible and it will help so many people. I'll help my children and my mum. I can't believe it," she said.
"I've been playing Set for Life for years! I always tell myself, 'You can't win if you don't have a ticket'.
"We've been wanting to go overseas too. This is life-changing. Thank you so much."
Their 5-game QuickPick entry was purchased on The Lott website - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
