A $243,000 upgrade of Albury Courthouse is due to be completed at the end of April, the largest renovation since 2006.
Attorney General Mark Speakman and Member for Albury Justin Clancy said the three-month project is part of the NSW Government's $148 million package to appoint seven extra District Court judges.
"The upgrade which includes the installation of new CCTV cameras and an alarm system is great news for the local community and is designed to significantly boost safety for court users," Mr Clancy said.
The package includes funding for more crown prosecutors, court staff and regional courthouse upgrades in five locations.
Mr Speakman said the arrival in February of Judge Sean Grant, the Albury-Griffith circuit's first resident District Court judge, means more trials in Albury Courthouse.
"The project will provide a new jury courtyard to enabling jurors to have extra privacy and security. In addition, there will be a minor refurbishment of Judge Grant's chambers and his associate's room.
There has been no impact on sittings during construction.
