ADELAIDE, SA — Young entrepreneur and community leader Alfredo Cabada has officially declared his candidacy for the August Adelaide City Council Central Ward by-election, pledging to bring fresh energy, business acumen, and a strong social conscience to Town Hall.
At just 30, Cabada has already made his mark as a connector, innovator, and problem-solver across Adelaide. He is a committee member of the Adelaide Economic Development Agency, where he champions sustainable growth and innovation in the city's economic future. As Director of Community Services at the Rotary Club of Adelaide, Cabada oversees initiatives supporting the Hutt St Centre, Australian Migrant Resource Centre, Helping Hand, Pilgrim Church Sunday Dinners, South Pacific School Aid, and more.
"I believe Adelaide is full of potential — but it needs practical leadership that listens and delivers," Cabada said. "Our city deserves a Council that supports local business, values our diverse communities, and invests in the next generation."
Cabada is also the founder of Young Professionals Adelaide, a rapidly growing network of professionals under 40 that has attracted over 200 members in just one year. The group recently held a forum at Town Hall with the support of the Lord Mayor. Through this platform, Cabada has connected young talent with opportunities in the heart of the city, driving conversation around innovation, inclusion, and urban renewal.
In addition, Cabada plays an active role in Adelaide's Innovation Factory, promoting entrepreneurship and support for emerging businesses in the CBD.
With a rare blend of youthful drive and deep civic involvement, Cabada says he's running to make Council more responsive, transparent, and forward-thinking.
"This is not about politics — it's about people. I want to bring practical ideas to the table that help small business thrive, make our city centre more liveable, and ensure vulnerable communities are heard and supported."
The Central Ward by-election will be held in August 2025.
