ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
RIVER LEVEL RISES AND AREAS OF FLOODING ARE OCCURRING IN THE TODD AND CHARLES RIVERS
This rainfall has resulted in a flow response in both the Todd and Charles Rivers.
The Todd River at Anzac Oval is currently at 2.04m (Category B) and is falling.
The water level at Big Dipper (Charles River) peaked level is 0.74m at 1100hrs and is steady.
The water level at Wigley Gorge (Todd River) peaked at 1.82m at 1100hrs and is falling.
The following causeways are closed:
• Schwarz Crescent
• Wills Terrace
• Tuncks Road
• Taffy Pick
• Palm Circuit
Access from Desert Springs and Mt Johns is via the Territory Generation access road.
Additional Information:
The flow resulting from overnight/morning rainfall appears to have peaked at Anzac Oval at Category B with the water level expected to continue to drop unless there is further significant falls over the catchment.
Moderate rainfall across the catchment is expected over the next few hours.
Bureau of Meteorology Forecast:
High chance of showers with possible severe thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in Alice Springs over the next several hours.
