Finocchiaro CLP Government delivers one-off assistance for families who have been without power for 72 hours or more following severe storm.$250 pre-paid card to be provided to eligible households.Approx. 2,000 properties remain without power and reconnection and recovery efforts continue in Alice Springs.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government will provide eligible households affected by the severe storm in Central Australia with a one-off $250 prepaid card to help replace food spoiled during prolonged power outages.
Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said the assistance would help ease the pressure on families who had lost power for three days or longer following Monday's damaging storm in Alice Springs.
"We know this storm has turned life upside down for many families in Alice Springs and surrounding communities," the Chief Minister said.
"Losing power for days on end is difficult enough without having to throw out the food in your fridge and freezer and find the money to replace it.
"That's why our Government is providing a $250 prepaid card to eligible households that have been without power for 72 hours or more. This is practical assistance to help families replace spoiled food and manage some of the immediate costs of this storm."
