Alkimos traffic stop

Joondalup Detectives have charged three men in relation to a burglary in Yanchep yesterday afternoon, Thursday 7 May 2020.

About 3:00pm three men attended a residence in Ravensbourne Street, Yanchep. It will be alleged two of them entered the property, with one of the men armed with a running chainsaw and the second armed with a loaded spear gun.

Fortunately there was no one home at the time of the incident, however there were children nearby who witnessed the incident and who were scared as a result of what they were seeing. The incident was reported to Police and patrols of the area were commenced.

A vehicle of interest, a Ford Falcon sedan, was observed in Alkimos and the vehicle was stopped on Marmion Avenue by officers from the Regional Operations Group and Yanchep Police. Due to the nature of the weapons involved the three occupants of the vehicle were removed from the vehicle at gunpoint and arrested.

Items of interest from the burglary were located in the vehicle.

A 37-year-old man from Quinns Rocks, who it will be alleged was armed with the chainsaw, has been charged with 'Aggravated Burglary and Commit', 'Stealing', and 'Carried (possessed) an article with intent to cause fear that someone will be injured or disabled'. He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court today, Friday 8 May 2020.

A 33-year-old man from Joondalup, who it will be alleged was armed with the spear gun, has been charged with 'Aggravated Burglary and Commit', 'Stealing', and 'Carried a controlled weapon in a manner likely to cause fear'. He is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday 3 June 2020.

A 26-year-old man from Eglinton has been charged with 'Aggravated Burglary and Commit' and 'Stealing'. He is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday 5 June 2020.
