All welcome to join in Heart Week Walk

Come and join the Caloundra Razzler Dazzler Walking Group on Saturday, May 4, for an opportunity to improve your fitness and get a free blood pressure check and morning tea as part of this year's Heart Week.

Run by the Heart Foundation, Heart Week is an opportunity to start a conversation about heart health and the steps needed to reduce the risk of heart disease.

Wendy Williams, organiser of the Caloundra Razzler Dazzler walking group, said she's thrilled to coordinate this year's healthy heart walk for the Sunshine Coast community.

"We're encouraging everyone to come along and join our group for a picturesque ocean-side walk followed by free blood pressure checks from the University of the Sunshine Coast's nursing students and a free healthy morning tea," Ms. Williams said.

"This walk is an opportunity to get together with friends and family and to start a conversation about the importance of heart health.

"With more than 40 free walking groups across the Sunshine Coast, walking as part of a group is a great way to improve your fitness and make new friends."

Heart Foundation Walking is Australia's largest network of free community-based walking groups, with volunteer walk organisers providing an enjoyable and easy way to stay active for people of all ages and fitness levels – even our four-legged friends.

Proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council, the Heart Foundation Walking program aligns with the aim of council's Healthy Sunshine Coast Health and Wellbeing Program and is helping our region to maintain its ranking as one of the healthiest regions in Queensland.

The Caloundra Razzler Dazzler's free walking group will gather at 7am at Happy Valley Park (near the cricket pitch) in Caloundra for a 7:30am start and the walk is expected to take approximately one hour to complete.
