Alleged drink driver charged after crashing into school fence in Villawood

A man has been charged after allegedly crashing into a school fence while drunk at Villawood last night.

About 9.30pm (Saturday 2 March 2019), emergency services were called to the intersection of Lowana and Gundaroo Streets, Villawood, after a Hyundai Coupe, driven by a 40-year-old man, crashed into a school fence.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and located the vehicle's passenger, a 43-year-old man, nearby with minor injuries.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition, however, he has since been released.

Police located the uninjured 40-year-old driver next to the vehicle, who was subject to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he participated in a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.210.

He was issued a Future Court Attendance notice for high-range PCA and negligent driving, to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 20 March 2019.
