Four of Western Australia's impressive young advocates have been announced as the 2026 Youth Week WA ambassadors.
Regina Ndossi (22), Alessia Maio (24), Josh Patrick (17) and Maeson Harvey (24) have been appointed the 'voices of young people' for next year's celebrations and will participate in the planning, development and promotion of Youth Week WA which runs from 10-16 April.
Youth Week is Western Australia's biggest celebration of young people aged 10 to 25 and recognises the enormous contribution that young people make to the social, cultural and economic fabric of Western Australia.
The four ambassadors are passionate about a range of issues such as mental health awareness, reducing the impacts of isolation and amplifying the voices of young people to break down barriers.
One of their first tasks has been to work with the Ministerial Youth Advisory Council to select the theme and artistic direction for Youth Week WA 2026 from submissions by young people across the State.
The chosen theme 'Strength in Our Stories' reflects how the diversity of young people's backgrounds and experiences empowers them to be catalysts for change, face challenges and strengthen their communities.
The Cook Government recently announced the Shire of Capel will host the official launch event for Youth Week WA 2026 to kickstart a week of celebration, events and activities across the State.
Further information and details about Youth Week WA 2026 can be found on the Department of Communities website .
As stated by Youth Minister Hannah Beazley:
"The Cook Government recognises the fresh ideas, new perspectives and inspiring contributions young people make to building a more inclusive community in WA.
"I congratulate Regina, Alessia, Josh and Maeson on their appointments as ambassadors for Youth Week WA 2026 and look forward to working with them as we mark a big week of events and celebrations.
"Representation is crucial to ensuring young people are heard and seen in our communities and I am confident our ambassadors for 2026 will be passionate advocates for their young Western Australians peers.
"The theme 'Strength in Our Stories' offers the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity, passion and resilience of our young people."
