The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will travel to Brussels, Belgium, on December 1, 2025, for high-level engagements with the European Union (EU) and to participate in the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
On December 2, Minister Anand will hold meetings with senior officials from the EU to reinforce cooperation on shared priorities. The Minister will strengthen economic collaboration-including discussions to enhance supply chain resilience-advance shared economic security objectives and discuss ways to strengthen sanctions implementation.
On December 3, Minister Anand will attend the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs. The Meeting will serve as an important opportunity to reaffirm Allied unity and shared resolve in addressing the strategic challenges confronting the Alliance.
There, she will address geopolitical challenges affecting Euro-Atlantic security, including Arctic security, and advance efforts to counter threats posed by Russia. The Minister will also participate in a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to bolster coordinated support for Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing illegal aggression and reiterate Canada's unwavering support for Ukraine.
On the margins of the NATO ministerial meeting, Minister Anand will hold bilateral meetings with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and several of her counterparts to exchange views on collective deterrence and defence.
