Anglicare Sydney Reacts to FWC Wage Decision

Anglicare Sydney

Commenting on today's decision by the Fair Work Commission to increase the National Minimum Wage and all modern award minimum wage rates by 3.5 per cent, effective from 1 July 2025, Simon Miller, CEO of Anglicare Sydney said:

"Today's decision to increase the minimum wage at above inflation is a welcome development for Australians struggling with cost of living. Our latest data indicates in Sydney alone, only 1.8% of rentals are affordable for people on the minimum wage. Whilst this is good news, we urge the government to go further and increase Job Seeker as well to at least $80 a day and increase Commonwealth rent assistance."
