Appeal after attempted armed robbery of elderly couple at Albury

Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted armed robbery of an elderly couple at a hotel in Albury.

About 9.20pm Wednesday (26 February 2020), an 80-year-old woman opened the door of a hotel room on Wagga Road, Lavington to retrieve an item from her car.

As she opened the door, two unknown men armed with knives allegedly threatened the woman and took the keys from her hand.

An 82-year-old man allegedly kicked and punched one of the men, before being threatened with the knife and retreating back into the hotel room.

The two men fled the scene on foot.

The two men were described as Aboriginal in appearance, with a slight build and were both wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

No one was injured during the incident.
