Police are appealing for information following a unit fire in Sydney's inner city.
About 3.30am today (Sunday 7 April 2024), emergency services were called to a unit block on Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, following reports of a fire.
Officers attached to Surry Hills Police Area Command arrived to find a second-floor unit alight.
The fire was quickly extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW before it could spread to neighbouring units.
A 41-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious burns to their bodies before they were taken to Royal North Shore Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in serious but stable conditions.
Another 39-year-old woman was treated for burns to her legs before she taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police believe the fire may have been deliberately lit.
