Appeal after man stabbed - Merrylands

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was stabbed in Merrylands yesterday.

About 7.15pm (Thursday 5 May 2022), emergency services were called to the carpark of a shopping centre on McFarlene Street, Merrylands, after reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and found a 19-year-old man with a stab wound to his buttocks.

Police were told the man was involved in a fight with a group of five other men, where he was stabbed in the buttocks before the group fled the scene in a white BMW.

The men were armed with a baton and knife.

The man was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

As investigations into the incident continue, police would like to speak to five males seen in the area who may be able to assist with inquiries.

All males are described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance with black hair.

Anyone who can help identify these males, witnesses to the incident, or with dashcam footage from the area, is urged to contact police.
