Appeal for assistance - Rape charges and videoin Brisbane City

Police investigating the alleged rape of a young woman last month in Brisbane are appealing for public assistance after concerning video was discovered on a mobile phone depicting other unknown women.

Detectives from Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Mary Street address yesterday (August 4) and arrested a 30-year-old local man.

During a search of the residence police will allege they located mobile telephones, video recording equipment, prescription drugs and illicit drugs.

The man has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with ten offences including stupefying in order to commit indictable offence,

rape, sexual assault, unlawful stalking, observations or recordings in breach of privacy, supplying dangerous drugs, possession of a restricted drug and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

It will be alleged a woman aged in her early 20's attended a Mary Street apartment in late July where she was sexually assaulted after being administered a stupefying drug.

Police will further allege that concerning video depicting other young women was located on one of the mobile phones. Initial analysis suggests these videos were recorded at different times. Forensic analysis of the mobile phones and recording devices is continuing.
