Appeal for car after Flemington collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following a collision in Flemington which has left two people fighting for their lives.

Police were initially called to Mount Alexander Road following reports a car had crashed into a pole just after midnight.

Responding police located three people in the car; two of whom were trapped before being taken to hospital with believed life-threatening injuries.

The third male was lucky to have walked away from the vehicle with suspected minor injuries.

Further enquiries have revealed the occupants of another car are believed to have been involved in an altercation with the victims prior to the crash.

It is believed the other car, a black Holden Commodore station wagon, followed the victim's car for some time, outbound over the Bolte Bridge on Citylink until both cars exited onto Racecourse Road.

Detectives are investigating whether the black Holden Commodore was involved in a collision with the victim's car just prior to it losing control and crashing into a pole.

Officers are appealing for the occupants of the black car to come forward and anyone with information or with dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
