Appeal for footage following erratic driving

Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for dash cam footage following an alleged incident in Melbourne’s north last week, Victoria Police say.

It is alleged a red Honda Accord sedan was seen driving erratically on Thursday 11 October throughout a number of suburbs, including Preston, Reservoir, Thomastown and Craigieburn.

The vehicle, which was extensively damaged, was also allegedly involved in two hit-run collisions at the corner of Keon Parade and High Street, Thomastown and in the vicinity of a shopping centre on Craigieburn Road, Craigieburn.

A 23-year-old man from Thomastown was arrested in Oaklands Junction in relation to the incident.

He was charged with a number of offences, including reckless conduct endangering life, drive in manner dangerous, unlicensed driving, possess cannabis, fail to stop for police and fail to stop vehicle after an accident.

The man has been remanded to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 17 October.

Anyone with information, who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage taken between the hours of 10.40am and 1.40pm is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
