Appeal for public assistance at Cooroy

Police are appealing to motorists and other members of the public for assistance in relation to an incident where an object was thrown from an overpass damaging a vehicle in Cooroy on Friday night (January 24).

Investigations indicate at about 7pm, a man threw a large rock or a similar object from the Cooroy Belli Creek Road overpass striking a vehicle travelling northbound on the Bruce Highway.

The windscreen of the white 2018 Nissan Qashqai was smashed as a result of being struck by the rock causing glass to splinter throughout the car.

The 30-year-old female driver and her young daughter attended Gympie Hospital for medical assessment however were uninjured.

Police are appealing to any members of the public who were in the vicinity of Belli Creek Road overpass between 6.30pm and 7.30pm who may have seen a man in the area, have relevant dash-cam footage or any information that may assist, to contact police.
