Appeal for witnesses – serious crash at Burpengary, QLD

Police investigating a serious, two vehicle traffic crash which occurred on Tuesday, November 27, are appealing for public assistance, Queensland Police say.

At around 7.40pm on the north bound lanes of the Bruce Highway near the Weigh Station at Burpengary,
a silver Ford Falcon sedan clipped a black Mini Cooper.

The impact caused the Mini Cooper to hit a light post before it rolled onto its roof and then slid into a power pole at the entrance to the weigh station.

The silver Ford Falcon left the scene and continued to travel in a northerly direction along the Bruce Highway.

The driver of the mini Cooper, a 57-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she remains.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating with officers urging anyone with relevant dashcam footage or information relating to the crash or the vehicles involved prior to the crash, to contact them.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to the driver of a semi-trailer who was travelling directly behind the two vehicles prior to the crash occurring.
