Appeal to locate escapee at Walgett

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man who escaped police custody at Walgett in the state's central north today.

Mervyn Blacklock, aged 37, escaped custody from Walgett Police Station earlier today (Monday 30 March 2020), after being formally refused bail in court.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance with short black hair, facial hair, and was wearing a red T-shirt, black, green and red South Sydney Rabbitohs football shorts and blue training shoes.

He was last seen running north on Pitt Street, Walgett.

Anyone who may know his whereabouts is urged not to approach, but to contact Triple Zero (000).
