Appeal to locate man after child approach - Abbotsford

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man after a boy was approached by a man in a vehicle while walking to school in Abbotsford.

Police have been told that about 8.20am (Thursday 29 August 2019), an 11-year-old boy was walking across the intersection of Fig Tree Avenue, on Abbotsford Cove Drive, when a small, grey coloured four-door hatchback pulled up alongside him.

The driver of the car asked the child if he wanted a lift. The boy declined and ran towards his school.

The driver conducted a U-turn and drove away, north along Abbotsford Cove Drive.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 30s, with black shaved hair, brown eyes and a goatee,

Police were contacted by the boy's mother and an investigation commenced.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command are appealing to anyone who might have witnessed or captured the incident on dashcam to contact them.
