A man has been charged with high range drink driving and speeding in Appin this morning.
About 11am on Friday 27 March 2026, officers attached to Wollongong Highway Patrol were travelling on Appin Road, near Sherrif Road, Appin, when they allegedly detected a car travelling at 134km/h in an 80 km/h signposted zone.
Officers stopped the vehicle and subjected the driver – a 53-year-old man – to a roadside breath test which allegedly returned a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Corrimal Police Station, where a breath analysis returned a reading of 0.214.
The man was charged with Class A motor vehicle exceed speed more than 45 km/h and drive with high range PCA. His license was also suspended.
He will appear in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 5 May 2026.
