Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling for applications from artists, studios and galleries for this year's Southern Highlands Arts Trail.

"The Arts Trail gives the public a rare opportunity to meet the makers, to see their work in the environment within which it was created and to buy direct from the studio door," said Council's Acting Deputy General Manager Ms Danielle Lidgard.

Last year 37 studios, nine galleries and over 80 creatives were involved in the trail attracting close to 12,000 visitors over the two-week period.

"Despite COVID challenges, we saw a 102 per cent increase in sales for studios," she said. "That's a fantastic boost for our local creative economy."

The 2021 Southern Highlands Arts Trail will run over the weekends of 6 and 7 and 13 and 14 November. New to the trail this year is the opportunity to promote mid-week and by appointment open days.

To participate studios and galleries must be located within the Wingecarribee Shire, hold the necessary insurance and open both weekends in November.

The cost to participate is $150 for artists and $300 for galleries and includes marketing, promotion and advertising.

Applications must be received by Tuesday 15 June 2021.
