Applications for the 2019 Australian Training Awards (ATAs) are now open for businesses, training providers and practitioners that have achieved excellence in skilling our future workforce.
Minister for Small and Family Business, Skills and Vocational Education, Senator Michaelia Cash urged eligible organisations and individuals to get in early to be in the running for next year’s awards.
"The Australian Training Awards are all about recognising the excellence and professionalism in vocational education and training in Australia," Minister Cash said.
"The VET sector is central to growing Australian businesses and building our economy. "The highly skilled workforce in Australia sets us apart from other countries and has helped put us in a place of unrivalled economic growth.
"This country benefits most when all Australians achieve their full potential and make a contribution. Having the right people with the right skills is key to achieving this and key to growing business and creating jobs for Australians.
" The 2018 School Pathways to VET Award went to Busselton Senior High School from Western Australia, which has achieved a 100 per cent attainment rate across its courses in 2017.
Principal Dainon Couzic said the program’s success, which offers qualifications in business, engineering, sport coaching and kitchen operations, lies in the quality staff.
"The unique VET model at Busselton Senior High School has supported the development of strong and sustainable relationships between students, trainers and industry," Mr Couzic said.
"The model ultimately promotes VET pathways that benefit all stakeholders and it is highly regarded throughout the community."
"If you provide innovative training like Busselton Senior High School, or if you employ Australian Apprentices and are helping successfully train the next generation of skilled workers, then we want to hear from you," Minister Cash said.
Applications for seven of the 18 award categories can be sent directly to the Australian Training Awards opening today. State and territory training awards will provide nominations for the other categories.
The 2019 Australian Training Awards will be held in Brisbane on 21 November 2019.
