Appointment of acting Charities Commissioner

The Albanese Government has appointed Ms Deborah Jenkins as the acting Commissioner of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, following the resignation of Dr Gary Johns, effective 31 July.

Ms Jenkins, a current Deputy Commissioner of the Australian Tax Office, will step into the role on 1 August. She will serve as acting Commissioner until 31 October, or until the position is filled on a permanent basis.

Ms Jenkins has held a number of leadership roles in the public and private sector, and her extensive experience will serve her well as the Albanese Government works with the charity and non-profit sector to strengthen community and build a reconnected Australia.
