Construction has begun on the $8 million Cairns Community and Multicultural Centre, jointly funded by the Albanese Government, through the Growing Regions Program and Cairns Regional Council.

The ceremonial first sod has been turned at White Rock, marking the fruition of years of planning, public consultation and advocacy at the community level.

The purpose built hub is designed to enrich the region's cultural and social fabric for generations to come.

The facility will feature a large multi-purpose hall, modern meeting rooms, a fully equipped commercial kitchen and an expansive outdoor gathering area, alongside a dedicated foyer for art and cultural exhibitions.

By attracting visitors to vibrant local events and cultural activities, this modern facility will also encourage regional tourism and provide a welcome boost to the local economy.

Construction completion is anticipated by late 2027.
