The Palaszczuk Government has announced a number of appointments to Queensland government energy, water, transport, financial and economic businesses.
A large number of Board positions approved recently are reappointments of Directors to their existing organisations, providing certainty for the businesses for the new decade.
Among those reappointed are:
- Adam Aspinall (Stanwell)
- Sarah Zeljko (Powerlink)
- Phil Garling (Energy Queensland)
- Teresa Dyson (Energy Queensland)
- Mark Algie (Energy Queensland)
- Helen Stanton (Energy Queensland)
- Hugh Gleeson (Energy Queensland)
- Vanessa Maruna (Ports North)
- Mike Reynolds (Port of Townsville)
- Renaye Peters (Queensland Rail)
- Stephen Cantwell (Queensland Rail)
- Marina Vit (Seqwater)
- Vanessa Sullivan (Sunwater)
- Simone Desmarchelier (QIC)
- Gillian Brown (QIC)
A number of new Directors have also been appointed to Board roles. These are:
- Wayne Swan (Stanwell)
- Laurene Hull (CleanCo)
- Paul Venus (CleanCo)
- Marita Corbett (Seqwater)
- John Wilson (QIC)
Deputy Premier and Treasurer Jackie Trad said Queensland's Government Owned Corporations and Statutory Authorities played a vital role in providing a range of services across the State.
"From bulk water and reliable electricity supplies, to the management of ports, railways and investments, these agencies have impacts on the lives of the more than five million people living in Queensland," Ms Trad said.
"As we enter the new decade, having the best management of these businesses will help keep Queensland as the best State in which to live in the nation."
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey said the Palaszczuk Government was pursuing a massive program of record infrastructure investment right across Queensland, including in public transport and our publicly owned ports.
"We need the right mix of professional expertise and experience across our government businesses to oversee that investment and drive their success," Mr Bailey said.
"It's a big job and we congratulate those who have stepped up to take on the task, and also thank those directors who have been re-appointed or have opted to step down for their contributions and service."
Minister for Natural Resources and Energy Dr Anthony Lynham congratulated the new and continuing appointees.
"The new appointees bring with them decades of invaluable public and private sector management knowledge and experience at the highest levels, Dr Lynham said.
The government also endorsed a number of appointments to the board of QSuper:
- Mr Karl Morris (to 31 December)
- Mr Don Luke (from 1 January)
- Ms Beth Mohle
- Professor Michael Drew
- Mr Bruce Cowley
The government thanked Directors who would not be continuing with various Boards for their efforts in supporting the businesses deliver a range of outcomes for their respective communities and stakeholders.
