Ararat Rural City Council's Community Vision 2035 and Council Plan 2025-29 were adopted by Council at the Council Meeting held on Tuesday 27 May 2025.
The long-term Community Vision 2035, a document which will capture the aspirations of the Ararat Rural City community over the next ten years, guides the Council Plan 2025-29.
The Community Vision 2035 is characterised by several key objectives including strong population growth trajectories that buck trends in rural Victoria; continuous and sustainable economic development which is focused on job creation through value adding in agriculture, advanced manufacturing, and tourism; and leadership in pragmatic approaches to local environmental management.
The Council Plan 2025-2029 highlights six key strategic objectives and sets the strategic direction for Council over the next four years, including actions related to each of these strategic objectives and further identifies the measures of success which will form an annual action plan that the Chief Executive Officer and Council staff will implement.
Council carried out community consultation on its Community Vision 2035 and Council Plan 2025-29, encouraging submissions via Engage Ararat, email and mail.
Residents also had the opportunity to ask questions about these documents at the Draft Budget Community Engagement Sessions held across the municipality in April and May of this year.
