Ararat Library Secures Funding for Exterior Revamp

Ararat Rural City Council has secured just over $51,000 from the State Government to deliver new improvements to the Ararat Library.

The project, funded by the State Government's Living Libraries Infrastructure Program (LLIP), will involve the installation of new interior and exterior lighting throughout the library building, as well as upgrades to the exterior signage.

The aim of the project is to promote a modern and welcoming space for patrons, while attracting new members and demographics of library visitors. It will also focus on the safety of our building, upgrading security systems, including outdoor lighting and cameras, to ensure the safety of both staff and visitors.

The Living Libraries Infrastructure Program (LLIP) enables Victorian councils and regional library corporations to deliver new or renewed library infrastructure for their communities and improve engagement and access to learning opportunities.

The program also aims to enable councils to continue to provide library facilities that meet the needs of communities and, in doing so, support the role of libraries in strengthening communities and encouraging opportunities for community participation.

"This significant funding means we can make crucial improvements to the Ararat Library, particularly boosting safety with upgraded lighting and security," says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong.

"This builds on the interior upgrades Council recently completed, allowing us to further transform the Ararat Library into an even more modern, welcoming, and safe space for everyone in our community to enjoy."
