Archer Accused of Lying About Health Cuts

Archer caught lying about health cuts

The Health Department's own annual report has exposed the truth behind months of Bridget Archer's claims that health spending is going up.

The report shows the Department spent $3.744 billion in 2025-26. This year's Budget gives it just $3.657 billion.

That is $87 million less to run Tasmania's hospitals, ambulances, and health services, in the state with the oldest and sickest population in the country, in addition to the $700 million in "operational efficiencies".

For months, Bridget Archer has told Tasmanians there are no cuts to health . Her own department's books prove that simply isn't true.

The Liberals' Budget papers confirm the cut is deliberate. They have locked in $131 million in so-called "operational efficiencies" from Health this year, rising to more than $700 million over four years.

Two Tasmanians have died waiting for an ambulance in the last month. Nurses at the Royal Hobart Hospital have stopped work over cuts to the Emergency Medical Unit. Tasmanians are waiting up to six years to see a specialist.

You cannot keep cutting from a health system under this much pressure and expect patients not to feel it.

Bridget Archer needs to stop supporting Eric Abetz's health cuts and start telling Tasmanians the truth.
